Acts 27:43
Next Verse

But the centurion, willing to save Paul, kept them from [their] purpose; and commanded that they which could swim should cast [themselves] first [into the sea], and get to land:

Note 1 at Acts 27:43: As mentioned before (see note 4 at Acts 27:32, p. ???), Paul had found favor with his captors because of the manifest blessing of God in his life. Here, this centurion is risking his life (see note 7 at Acts 16:27, p. 672) to save Paul's. Proverbs 16:7 says, "When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him."

Although not stated in scripture, it is very probable that this centurion who put his life on the line for Paul's sake also embrace the gospel which Paul preached and later used his influence to obtain a private house for Paul to be kept in (Acts 28:16, 30).
