Ephesians 1:19
Next Verse

And what [is] the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Note 13 at Eph. 1:19: Paul wants us to not only know God's power, but the greatness of God's power, and then the exceeding greatness of God's power. God is infinitely greater in every way than our little minds can comprehend. We must receive a revelation through our spirit to grasp even a little of God's exceeding, great power.

Note 14 at Eph. 1:19: This exceeding greatness of God's power is towards us. That means that it is for us and our benefit. Some people get glimpses of God's power, but very few have the revelation that it is for us and at our disposal. It doesn't do us any good to believe that God has power if we don't believe that it will work for us.

Note 15 at Eph. 1:19: This great power of God is effectual only for those who believe. We must believe to receive, or if we doubt, we do without.

Note 16 at Eph. 1:19: The phrase "according to" means "to the proportion or degree that" (see note 4 at Eph. 1:4, p. 1095). The point that is being made is that the power which every believer in Christ now has, is the same power that God the Father used to raise Christ from the dead. We don't just have a little bit of power from God. We have the same power that God used to raise Jesus from the dead. It is more than enough power to accomplish God's will in our lives.
