Ephesians 3:11
Previous Verse
Ephesians 3:11
Next Verse

According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

Note 16 at Eph. 3:11: God's plan of redemption was not an afterthought of man's sin. Scripture reveals that Jesus was "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world" (Rev. 13:8). Acts 15:18 says, "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world." God promised eternal life to those who would believe before the world began (Ti. 1:2). Peter said Jesus was foreordained before the foundation of the world (1 Pet. 1:20). In Ephesians 1:4 Paul said we were chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world, and in this verse he makes it clear that the plan of redemption was God's eternal purpose (see note 3 at 1 Cor. 2:7, p. 868 and ref. o at v. 9, this page).
