Galatians 2:19
Previous Verse
Galatians 2:19
Next Verse

For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.

Note 11 at Gal. 2:19: Paul is saying that his deliverance from the law is not through unlawful means. The law demanded death for sin (Eze. 18:4, 20) and Jesus fulfilled that requirement by dying in our place. Now it would be unlawful to punish us once our debt has been paid. That would be double jeopardy.

Note 12 at Gal. 2:19: The Lord redeemed us for a purpose. It was so we could live for Him. He didn't set us free so we could do our own thing. We are not our own. We are bought with a price. Therefore, we should glorify God in our body and in our spirit which are the Lord's (1 Cor. 6:19-20).
