But [it is] good to be zealously affected always in [a] good [thing], and not only when I am present with you.

Note 11 at Gal. 4:18: Once again (see note 10 at v. 17, above), the NIV translates this Old English into modern English very well. "It is fine to be zealous, provided the purpose is good, and to be so always and not just when I am with you." The Simple English Translation says, "It is good for people to show interest in you, but only if their purpose is always good. This is true whether I am with you or not."
