Galatians 5:25 |
Next Verse |
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Note 22 at Gal. 5:25: This is similar to Paul's terminology in Romans 8 (see note 20 at Rom. 8:9, p. 795). Every born-again (see note 2 at Jn. 3:3, p. 92) Christian is living by the Spirit of God (see ref. m at this verse), but that doesn't mean he is walking after (or in) the Spirit. Living in the Spirit is referring to a reality that automatically accompanies the new birth. Walking in the Spirit (see note 6 at v. 16, p. 1082) is referring to the way we should conduct ourselves after salvation. The first is a fixed position. The second is conditional, depending on how we renew our minds and yield to the Holy Spirit.
