Note 5 at Joh 3:7: The Greek word used for "again" in Joh 3:3 and this verse is "ANOTHEN," and it is used only thirteen times in the New Testament. These two instances are the only times it is rendered "again." This same word is translated "from above" five times, with two of those times being here in John's Gospel (Joh 3:31, 19:11; Jas 1:17, 3:15, and 17).
