Note 3 at Joh 4:17: This is a very important commentary by Jesus on the state of marriage. Jesus clearly said the man whom this woman was living with (and having sexual relations with) was not her husband. Therefore, God does not recognize "common-law" marriage. A marriage ceremony and exchanging of vows is required by God to have a husband-and-wife relationship.
