For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth [them]; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
Note 6 at Joh 5:21: This is another testimony to the deity of Jesus. Men of God had raised people from the dead before (Elijah, 1Ki 17:22; Elisha, 2Ki 4:35), but they were only instruments that God used, as we see in the New Testament (Peter, Ac 9:40; Paul, Ac 20:9-10). Jesus Himself had the power to raise the dead at will.
