John 5:32
Previous Verse
John 5:32
Next Verse

There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.

Note 18 at Jn. 5:32: Jesus mentions the testimony of John the Baptist (vv. 33,35), His works (v. 36), and His Father (v. 37) to fulfill the requirement of having two or three witnesses. However, the One who He is referring to in verse 32 is His Father (Jn. 8:18). God the Father bore witness of Jesus at His baptism through an audible voice and a visible dove (Mt. 3:16-17). He later bore witness of Jesus through an audible voice twice more (Mt. 17:5; Jn. 12:28), a visible cloud (Mt. 17:5), many miracles (Jn. 21:25), and by angels (Lk. 24:4-9; Acts 1:10-11).
