John 6:67
Previous Verse
John 6:67
Next Verse

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Note 14 at Jn. 6:67: Considering Jesus' previous reactions to rejection (Mt. 11:20-24; 12:24-45; Lk. 4:28-30; 5:33-39--see note 11 at Jn. 6:61, above), it would be inconsistent to interpret Jesus' question to His disciples as a statement of desperation imploring His disciples not to leave. Rather, it should be interpreted as Jesus demanding the same commitment from His twelve disciples as He just preached to the multitudes. Jesus was not seeking to turn anyone away, but He was not going to compromise to keep them.
