Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
Note 4 at Jn. 7:22: Circumcision was a part of the covenant between God and Abraham (Gen. 17:10-14). It was practiced about 416 years before Moses led the children of Israel out of Egypt.
