John 7:23
Previous Verse
John 7:23
Next Verse

If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

Note 5 at Jn. 7:23: The actual doing of God's will (i.e. destroying the works of the devil--1 Jn. 3:8) always takes precedence over adhering to any symbolic observance such as keeping the Sabbath (see note 1 at Jn. 5:16, p. 97). Loving your neighbor as yourself would include Jesus using His power to minister to a man's physical needs even on the Sabbath day (see note 2 at Jn. 5:18, p. 99).
