Note 6 at Jn. 7:27: There are no scriptures that stated that the Christ's coming would be a mystery. Quite the contrary, it was prophesied that He would be a descendant of David (see ref. e at Mt. 15:22, p. 192) and that He would be born in Bethlehem, the city of David (Mic. 5:2). These Jews must have been making reference to some of the traditions expounded in the synagogues. Once again, their traditions made the Word of God of none effect (Mk. 7:13).
