Note 6 at Joh 7:27: No scriptures state that the Christ's coming would be a mystery. Quite the contrary, it was prophesied that He would be a descendant of David and that He would be born in Bethlehem, the city of David (1Sa 16:4, 12-13; and Mic 5:2). These Jews must have been making reference to some of the traditions expounded in the synagogues. Once again, their traditions made the Word of God of none effect (Mr 7:13).
