John 8:38
Previous Verse
John 8:38
Next Verse

I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

Note 15 at Jn. 8:38: Jesus is speaking about spiritual vision here and it parallels His teaching in the sermon on the mount from Matthew 6:22 (see note 39 at Mt. 6:22, p. 81). The direction in which we focus our attention (towards God or towards the devil) will determine our actions. If we observe Satan and his ways, then we will eventually act like him. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov. 23:7). If we keep our vision stayed on God, then we will eventually be like Him. Our actions are determined by who we listen to or watch.
