John 8:45
Next Verse

And because I tell [you] the truth, ye believe me not.

Note 18 at Jn. 8:45: The truth will either set men free if they receive it (Jn. 8:32) or it will cause them to rebel if they reject it. God's truth (Jn. 1:14; 14:6; 17:17) is like light (Jn. 17:17 with Jn. 1:1,4). Light exposes all of the sins we have tried to hide (Jn. 3:19-21). Men (and women) will either repent and be set free when this happens or they will strike back and try to put out the light as these Jews did, so that they can continue to conceal their sins. The truth will cause freedom or rebellion but never indifference.
