John 9:9
Next Verse

Some said, This is he: others [said], He is like him: [but] he said, I am [he].

Note 7 at Jn. 9:9: Some people doubted that this was the same man who had been the blind beggar. Like people today, they went to great lengths to explain away the supernatural intervention of God's power in their daily lives. The reason people resist this so strongly is because they are trying to justify their carnal lives. If they can convince themselves that the supernatural doesn't happen, then they can be content with a powerless life. If, on the other hand, miracles do happen, they have to face the question, "Why aren't they happening in my life?"
