John 10:25
Previous Verse
John 10:25
Next Verse

Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

Note 1 at Jn. 10:25: There were many ways in which Jesus had already revealed who He was. His miraculous works certainly revealed who He was (Jn. 5:36; 10:25); and Jesus said the people of that generation would be condemned at the judgment for rejecting this witness (Lk. 10:12-16).

Jesus had also clearly revealed that He was the Christ, both in the synagogue at His hometown of Nazareth (Lk. 4:18- 21), and when speaking to the Samaritan woman at Jacob's well (Jn. 4:26). John 5:17-23; 6:32-59; and 8:12-59 are long discourses in which Jesus explained who He was. These teachings are interspersed with many statements like "Before Abraham was, I am" (Jn. 8:58) which could only be understood by the acceptance of Jesus as the Christ, God "manifest in the flesh" (1 Tim. 3:16).

Many other statements of Jesus' (Mt. 12:42; 16:16-17; Jn. 2:16-17; 3:16; 10:7-14; see eight "I AM'S" of Jesus, p. 237) revealed who He was to those who had ears to hear (see note 3 at Mt. 11:15, p. 120).
