My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Note 2 at Joh 10:27: According to Vine's Expository Dictionary, the Greek word used for "know" here is "GINOSKO," and it means "to understand completely"; this is not the same as "OIDA," which means "to have knowledge of." GINOSKO is used in Mt 1:25 ("knew") and Lu 1:34 referring to sexual relations. This knowing, then, is not just intellectual but a personal, intimate understanding (see note 3 at Joh 3:36 and note 94 at Joh 17:3).
