I and [my] Father are one.
Note 3 at Jn. 10:30: Jesus had already received a violent response from the scribes and Pharisees when He called God His Father (Jn. 5:17). They took that as Jesus claiming deity for Himself (see note 3 at Jn. 5:18, p. 99). Here, He not only calls God His Father again, but says that He and His Father are one. As stated in note 2 at Mark 1:10, page 35 and note 2 at John 8:18, page 230, this word "one" means more than singleness of purpose. It denotes a single one to the exclusion of another (see ref. l on p. 281 for notes on the deity of Jesus).
