(It was [that] Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
Note 3 at Jn. 11:2: The instance which John is mentioning is recorded in Matthew 26:6-7; Mark 14:3; and John 12:3. It took place in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper during a supper given for Jesus which many people attended. The supper was given a few days after Lazarus' resurrection from the dead, and is not to be confused with a similar incident which is recorded in Luke 7:37-50 (see note 1 at Lk. 7:37, p. 124).
