John 11:5
Next Verse

Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

Note 5 at Jn. 11:5: It is interesting to note that special mention is made of Jesus loving Martha. This is after the incident recorded in Luke 10:38-42 (pp. 254-255) where Martha got caught up with serving instead of worshiping and Martha's priorities were still not straightened out (Jn. 12:2). In Luke 10:41-42, Jesus was not rebuking Martha but rather exhorting her for her own profit. When the Lord deals with problem areas of our lives, it is always for our profit--not punishment (Heb. 12:9-11) and should not be taken as rejection. This is one way to discern God's correction from the devil's condemnation.
