John 12:6
Previous Verse
John 12:6
Next Verse

This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

Note 4 at Jn. 12:6: Only John gives insight into the motives behind Judas' complaint. Judas didn't care about the poor. He wanted to have the money that the perfume could have been sold for in his bag (he was the treasurer for Jesus--this verse and Jn. 13:29) so he could steal it. This is a very serious crime which Jesus no doubt knew about but scripture never mentions Him confronting Judas.
