Next Verse |
Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.
Note 2 at Jn. 12:24: Jesus is comparing His death and resurrection to a grain of wheat being planted in the ground. Just as the grain of wheat has to "die" by being planted in the ground, Jesus would also be laid in the ground for three days. But as the single grain of wheat finds new life through this "death" and multiplies itself many times more, so Jesus would rise again and bring many others with Him from death unto life.
