John 14:8
Previous Verse
John 14:8
Next Verse

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Note 14 at Jn. 14:8: We tend to think, "if the Lord would just do this or that, then I would be satisfied," but that is not so. The flesh can never be satisfied. It has an insatiable lust like a person with a drug addiction. What provided assurance at one time ceases to do so and there has to be another "fix." Faith in the revelation that God has already given (i.e. the Word of God) is the only way to a "crutch- free" relationship with the Father (see note 8 at Lk. 16:31, p. 302).
