John 14:9
Previous Verse
John 14:9
Next Verse

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Shew us the Father?

Note 15 at Jn. 14:9: It is possible to know a lot about a person and yet not know them. The disciples had spent years with Jesus and had seen more of His works than anyone and yet they didn't really know Him. Knowing about Jesus will not suffice for knowing Jesus when we stand before God's throne (Jas. 2:19; see note 7 at Jn. 7:28, p. 224; see note 9 at Jn. 8:32, p. 232; see note 2 at Jn. 10:27, p. 280).
