John 14:11
Previous Verse
John 14:11
Next Verse

Believe me that I [am] in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

Note 16 at Jn. 14:11: Jesus here states two bases for our faith in Him. We can either believe in Him because of all the evidence, or we can believe in Him just because of His Word. Jesus put the greater blessing on those who make His Word the basis of their faith (Jn. 20:29; see note 2 at Mt. 8:10, p. 116; see note 1 at Mt. 11:7, p. 118). He goes on to declare in the next verse that those who base their faith on Him alone will be able to produce the same works that He did and even greater.
