Next Verse |
Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
Note 34 at Joh 14:22: Judas asked a question, and Jesus replied without the rebuke that characterized His answers to Thomas and Philip in this same discourse (see note 8 at Joh 14:4 and note 13 at Joh 14:7). This was because Judas' question was not a question of doubt, as were Thomas' and Philip's; Judas was simply seeking clarification of how this would be. Mary asked a similar question without being rebuked by the angel Gabriel (see note 3 at Lu 1:34). Therefore, we see that God doesn't mind us questioning Him if our motives are right.
