And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.
Note 43 at Jn. 14:29: A prophetic utterance is given for edification, exhortation, and comfort (1 Cor. 14:3). As Jesus reveals here, it also causes faith in the Lord when the prophecy comes to pass.
