John 15:14
Next Verse

Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Note 62 at Jn. 15:14: Abraham was referred to as the friend of God (2 Chr. 20:7; Isa. 41:8; Jas. 2:23). The scriptures state that God spoke to Moses as a friend speaks to his friend (Ex. 33:11). Now this rare relationship with God is being opened up to all who will do whatsoever Jesus commands them.

It is wonderful that we can have any relationship with Almighty God at all, but a relationship as a friend is beyond anything that we could ask or think.

As Jesus goes on to explain in the next verse, one of the benefits of this friendship is that we get information to which no one else has access. This was also true of Abraham, the friend of God (Gen. 18:17-22).
