John 16:21
Previous Verse
John 16:21
Next Verse

A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.

Note 86 at Jn. 16: 21: Jesus is using a physical example to illustrate the spiritual truth He is telling His disciples. Just as a woman experiences sorrow in delivering a baby but forgets it all for the great joy of bringing a child into the world, so Jesus' disciples would soon forget all their grief when they see Jesus resurrected from the dead.
