And led him away to Annas first; for he was father in law to Caiaphas, which was the high priest that same year.
Note 1 at Jn. 18:13: Through John's account, we can see that Jesus was brought to Annas first and then later that same night, they brought Him to Caiphas who was the actual high priest (see ref. c at this verse).
