John 18:14
Next Verse

Now Caiaphas was he, which gave counsel to the Jews, that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

Note 2 at Jn. 18:14: Josephus, a first century historian, writes that Caiaphas was deposed from being high priest by the Roman governor, Vitellius, shortly after the crucifixion of Jesus and unable to cope, killed himself in A.D. 35 (Ant., book 18, chap. 2-4).
