John 21:21 |
Next Verse |
Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what [shall] this man [do]?
Note 16 at Jn. 21:21: Peter had just been told by Jesus to follow Him (v. 19). However, Peter wants to know what the Lord has planned for John to do. Instead of Jesus answering Peter's question, the Lord tells him that what He has in store for John is none of his business.
Satan has diverted many by getting them preoccupied with what others are doing for the Lord. Comparing ourselves with others, whether we come out good or bad in the comparison, is unwise (2 Cor. 10:12). We need to be so single-minded (Phil. 3:13-15) in our following of the Lord that we don't look to the right or to the left to see what others are doing. It doesn't matter if we are doing as much to serve the Lord as someone else. The question is, are we doing all that the Lord wants us to do?
