Luke 1:27
Previous Verse
Luke 1:27
Next Verse

To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary.

Note 1 at Lk. 1:27: The virgin birth of our Lord Jesus Christ is a pivotal truth on which the whole claim to deity hinges. Medical science has discovered that a child inherits his blood from the father. Since Leviticus 17:11,14 reveals that the life of all flesh is the blood. If Joseph had been Jesus' father, Jesus would have had sinful, mortal life in Him. Since God was His father, physically and spiritually, Jesus had the eternal life of God flowing through His veins. Mary simply supplied the body for deity to inhabit. Jesus was God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16).
