And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present [him] to the Lord;
Note 1 at Lu 2:22: By looking at the laws governing a woman's purification listed in Le 12:1-8, we can see that this presentation of Jesus in the temple was thirty-two days after Jesus was circumcised, thus making Him forty days old.
