Luke 2:42
Next Verse

And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

Note 1 at Lk. 2:42: We can see from Exodus 23:17, Exodus 34:23, and Deuteronomy 16:16 that Jesus was commanded by the law to be in Jerusalem at this feast every year. However, it is interesting to note that there is no mention of Jesus conversing with the doctors of the law before the age of twelve. On the contrary, Joseph's and Mary's reaction in verse 48 shows that this was the first time Jesus had ministered in this manner. The rest of Jesus' childhood is not recorded in detail, but this glimpse is given to show us that He was "about his Father's business" during that time.
