And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?
Note 4 at Lk. 2:49: Jesus' answer shows surprise at Joseph's and Mary's lack of understanding His mission. In answer to Mary's statement of Joseph as His father, Jesus also clarified that God was His Father and no doubt jogged their memories as to who He was.
