Luke 2:52
Next Verse

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.

Note 1 at Lk. 2:52: The deity of Jesus is well established in scripture (see ref. l at Jn. 10:30, p. 281), but so also is the fact that He could do nothing of Himself (Jn. 8:28). This paradox can only be explained by understanding that although Jesus was God in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16), He "humbled himself" (Phil. 2:8) and operated as a man by putting His faith in the Father God, so that in all things He could be like His brethren, and be a merciful and faithful high priest for us (Heb. 2:10-18). See note 7 at John 8:28, page 232.

The miracles Jesus performed were not done from the power of His deity, but rather from His humanity, by putting faith in the Father, just as we must do. This makes it easier to relate to John 14:12.
