And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath,

Note 3 at Lk. 4:28: The main reason for their wrath was that Jesus made reference to these two instances when God bypassed the unbelieving Jews and brought deliverance to the Gentiles. The application was clear that if these people rejected Him because they were familiar with Him (v. 24), then salvation would be preached to the Gentiles. This is what infuriated them (see note 2 at Lk. 2:32, p. 22).
