Next Verse

But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

Note 4 at Lk. 5:24: Healing is an expression of God's love and compassion for our physical man. However, as in this case, miracles of healing also draw men to God to get their spiritual needs met. Physical healing acts like a bell to get man's attention so that the Lord can minister to the inner man also. If the sinless Son of God used miracles to validate His authority (Jn. 5:36; Acts 2:22) and gain attention, as did the first century believers (Acts 4:13- 14,29-30; Heb. 2:3-4), how do we think we can be effective without the supernatural power of God manifested in our ministry today (1 Cor. 2:4; 4:20; Heb. 13:8)?
