And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.
Note 5 at Lk. 5:25: This healing, like most of the healing Jesus produced, was instantaneous (Mt. 8:3; 20:34; Mk. 1:31; Lk. 8:44; 13:13; Jn. 5:9). There are two instances where healing was manifested gradually (Mk. 8:23-25; Lk. 17:12-14). Therefore, at times, God does heal gradually. However, in both of these instances, the healing was complete within an hour. Therefore, we see that God's best is instantaneous or near-instantaneous manifestations of healing. Many people do receive gradual healing over long periods of time, but that's because of their faith (Mt. 9:29-30). However long a person has to believe, it is worth it. No one should feel discouraged or condemned because of a long manifestation period, but we also should not be content to allow sickness in our bodies one minute longer than necessary. Jesus is our example, and we can receive instantaneous healing (Jn. 14:12).
