Previous Verse
Luke 7:15
Next Verse

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

Note 3 at Lk. 7:15: This is the first of three people that Jesus raised from the dead, the others being Jairus' daughter (Mt. 9:25; Mk. 5:42; Lk. 8:55) and Lazarus (Jn. 11:44). Three people were raised from the dead in the Old Testament. One was raised by Elijah (1 Ki. 17:22), one by Elisha (2 Ki. 4:35) and one man who came back to life as he touched Elisha's bones (2 Ki. 13:21). Peter and Paul each saw one person raised from the dead (Acts 9:40; 20:9-12). It is possible that Paul was raised from the dead in Acts 14:19- 20. Many saints were resurrected at Jesus' crucifixion (Mt. 27:52), and most importantly of all, Jesus, Himself, was resurrected (see note 14 at Jn. 5:28, p. 101).
