And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Note 1 at Lk. 8:8: The thing that made this ground good, in contrast with the three other types of ground, is not that it had more rocks, thorns, etc., but rather that it had less. Many times, we feel that we just don't have what it takes to become fruitful, but the truth is that any of us can see God's Word produce in our lives if we root out all the contrary things. Good ground doesn't just happen, it has to be cultivated.
