(For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For oftentimes it had caught him: and he was kept bound with chains and in fetters; and he brake the bands, and was driven of the devil into the wilderness.)
Note 1 at Lu 8:29: Demon possessed people can exhibit a supernatural (not of God) strength, as can be seen in this Gadarene demoniac breaking his chains. This was also evident in the demon possessed man who beat up seven men who were trying to cast the unclean spirits out of him (Ac 19:13-17).
