And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.
Note 2 at Lk. 9:9: The scriptures don't state clearly how long John was imprisoned before he was beheaded. Matthew 14:13 would imply that John was beheaded during this Galilean tour by Jesus "when Jesus heard of it." The time between these accounts of his imprisonment and his death is approximately 1.5 years (see the placement of these two instances on the Chronological Chart, pp. iii and vi).
