He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.
Note 1 at Lk. 9:20: What someone else thinks about Jesus will not affect our personal standing with Him. We cannot be "right" with God through our parents's faith or anyone else's. Jesus asks each one of us individually "whom say ye that I am?"
