Luke 9:24
Previous Verse
Luke 9:24
Next Verse

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Note 4 at Lk. 9:24: This verse is not saying that we have to suffer martyrdom to receive salvation. It rather refers back to us denying ourselves and following Jesus. Many people have desired salvation from God but have been unwilling to let go of things that stand between them and God. A man is not a fool who gives up what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.
