Luke 9:62
Previous Verse
Luke 9:62
Next Verse

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Note 3 at Lk. 9:62: To do a good job plowing, one has to keep his eyes fixed at a point out in front of him (Phil. 3:14). Looking to the right or left and especially looking behind will cause the furrows to be crooked. Likewise, in the spiritual realm, divided attention will result in failure (Mt. 6:22-24; Lk. 16:13). This apparently harsh statement is actually a warning intended to stress the importance of commitment so that we can succeed in our Christian walk.
