Previous Verse
Luke 9:62
Next Verse

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

Note 3 at Lu 9:62: To do a good job plowing, we have to keep our eyes fixed at a point out in front of us (Php 3:14). Looking to the right or left and especially looking behind will cause the furrows to be crooked. Likewise, in the spiritual realm, divided attention will result in failure (Mt 6:22-24 and Lu 16:13). This apparently harsh statement is actually a warning intended to stress the importance of commitment so that we can succeed in our Christian walk.
