Luke 11:2
Previous Verse
Luke 11:2
Next Verse

And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.

Note 2 at Lk. 11:2: Notice that this is basically the same teaching that Jesus had given during the sermon on the mount in Matthew 6:9-13 and Matthew 7:7-11, which took place nearly two years before. This shows that Jesus taught the same messages more than once. Jesus gave these disciples one added parable on prayer in this instance (vv. 5-8) that He did not share during the sermon on the mount. Likewise, there were some instructions about the proper attitudes in prayer that Jesus shared in His sermon on the mount (Mt. 6:5- 8,14-15) that He didn't reiterate to His disciples here.
